The New World

It all happened too fast. I was dreaming. The American flag was hanging in every corner. As we drove into the streets, I could see those nice suburban houses with their perfectly cut lawns, their neat driveways & no fences around their gardens.

We walked downtown Cincinnati. My eyes always looking up at those huge buildings. Everything was immensely impressive. Next thing I knew I was on top of a building where the view was extraordinary. Everything was so small and so tall at the same time.

8 hours drive & we were in Washington D.C. All the history rushed back in my brain randomly; The capitol, Slavery, the constitution, the white house, the presidents, Native Americans,The declaration of Independence, wars, civil rights...everything was there.

Suddenly i was back in Cincinnati in a shooting range for the first time of my life. I remember holding the rifle awkwardly, and it's only when I started to aim that I felt all the adrenaline running through my veins.

It took us 4 hours to go to Chicago. The view ahead of us was breathtaking. Thousands and thousands of skyscrapers going up in the sky and touching the clouds. Millions of people walking in every directions. This place seemed restless. In an instant we were on top of the two highest towers of the country. It was magnificent.Everything got smaller but was still incredibly huge. All the skyscrapers were spreading harmoniously & the city was expanding until we could no longer see it. The gigantic lake Michigan was adding even more beauty to it.

Then we stopped to eat a traditional Chicago pizza, we took the car, we went to the beach, we laid there in the sun,we hardly managed to enter the icy cold water, then we walked along the beach and then ...

Then I was at the airport saying goodbye to my friend & trying to fight back my tears.I went through security. I turned back to look at my friend at the other side . I could feel this pain pounding in my throat. Soon, warm tears were rolling down my cheeks. I didn't want to leave.
